Another milestone was achieved this week with the handover completed on the new 60 bed modular acute ward building in University Hospital Limerick. Quinn Downes Installation provided the complete mechanical services installation for this project. The unit has all single-patient rooms with ensuites which include 6 HTM compliant Isolation rooms and ancillary support areas. Services included dual fuel heating (natural gas & oil fired boiler system), ventilation, air conditioning, water and waste services, medical gases (O2 and Vac), fire protection including dry risers and BMS.

The €19.5 million project will begin to help address the acknowledged lack of bed capacity in the Midwest region. It will open on a phased basis and will be fully open in early January.
